That new car smell
A friend of mine and I were talking about cars having that “new car smell” and while she couldn’t exactly describe the smell, as it turns out she didn’t need to try since you can buy “the new car smell” in a bottle these days… Looking around Lane’s professional Car Care products web site, alongside the car buffers, seat covers and what not, you can grab yourself a bottle of “new car smell”. Also “leather car smell”. They will set you back about $10 per bottle plus shipping. I guess it’s a lot less expensive then buying a whole new car just because you like the smell hey.

Food prices, less meat
You may have noticed food prices sky rocketing this year, which although is a bit of a problem for us it’s a huge problem for those in countries where they live on two dollars a day or less. I’m thinking that in an effort to cut costs I may cut down on the amount of meat we eat. Which is how I discovered vegweb. If you are interested in using more vegetables in your cooking it’s worth taking a look.

Prostate cancer treatment
HIFU is a prostate cancer treatment which involves heating a group of cells to a high temperature very fast. It’s a non invasive cancer treatment which you can read more about at Internationalhifu.com. The site also has a directory of doctors who perform this treatment as well as other useful information about the condition such as
prostate cancer symptoms.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The Sonablate 500 is not approved for use in the U.S. The Sonablate 500 remains investigational in the U.S. and is being studied for the treatment of prostate cancer in clinical trials in the U.S. FDA has made no decision as to the safety or efficacy of the Sonablate 500 for the treatment of prostate cancer. Currently, the device is approved for the treatment of prostate cancer in Canada and the Dominican Republic, authorized in Argentina, and available in the Bahamas and Mexico.

Google PR
Wow I’m not sure if I should celebrate yet but it seems both my sites have gained one google PR ranking. This site is now a PR4 and my other is a PR 6. I’m too scared to get excited in case it’s just some sort of temporary thing but I hope not!! Fingers crossed.

Coupons
1-coupons.com is a web site offering discount deals on outdoors clothing, boots, backpacks, luggage and bedding. I am currently dreaming of buying a laptop and would be rather grateful to find a coupon to make it cheaper! Currently I am bidding on one on ebay which is extra cheap thanks to the battery not holding charge but I figure since I only plan to use it at home it doesn’t really matter. Especially if I save about $100.
Anyway the site also offer coupons for department stores like Target and Walmart as well as DVD rentals so the site has something to offer anyone who does not want to shop at full prices and is looking for a bargain. Many of the stores offer free shipping with the coupons and so it is worth taking advantage since an extra few dollars to go towards the mortgage at the end of the month is always a good thing.
If you need gift ideas there is also lots of those, two pages of articles to help make the choice a little easier. Don’t forget to take a look at the mother’s day gift ideas!! My favorite gift giving occasion of the year ![]()

Suncatchers
My lovely friend Chernal bought me this beautiful suncatcher made of mirrors and beads. It has done heaps to brighten the mood of the room I’ve hung it up in so I’m thinking of maybe trying to make my own. I really wish I had the patience and skill to be more crafty but usually my craft projects end up looking very very home made and pretty funny. If I make one though I’ll be sure to post it here.

Backpacks
I’m very much a packpack sort of person. I’m rarely seen with a handbag but you can usually find a backpack on my back. Being more of a practical kinda girl I use them to put the shopping in since it’s easier to carry and when my daughter was a baby I used them so it would free up my arms to be able to hold her when needed. If you are also into backpacks whether it’s for carrying books or for hiking rockymountaintrail.com has you covered. There’s a HUGE range there and currently a 10% off promo is happening as well as a free shipping on order over $45.
As well as packpacks they also cover other hiking gear such as clothing, sunglasses, sleeping bags, tents and lots more.
I noted with amusement that hiking backpacks these days feature compartments such as an MP3 pocket with cord port, a laptop computer compartment, mesh water bottle pockets and an organizer pocket. Sounds like my kind of hiking trip.
Not sure where to head to with your new gear? No problem, check out the monthly “Featured Backpacking Trail” section of the web site for suggestions and descriptions of places to travel to.

Diet influencing unborn’s gender
Last night I stumbled upon an interesting article here about a new study finding a link between what a woman eats and the gender of her child. To sum it up the article suggests girls are conceived when mum eats a lower amount of calories just before conceiving her child. Eating more calories and a wider variety of nutrient means a higher chance of conceiving a boy. The article also mentioned that in the western world because half the time we are dieting and also not eating a very wide range of nutrients, there is a slight change towards newborn girls outnumbering boys. Web hosting
If you are looking for inexpensive small business hosting concentric.com offers some great deals. Starting at about $12/month for the 24 months prepaid plan, web hosting doesn’t get much more affordable then that. Web hosting (just like most aspects of the internet I guess) has come a long way since I began using it. $12/month for 40GB of data transfer would have been every webmasters’ dream come true back then. Data transfer has become a lot cheaper and technology as well as security has improved a fair bit. Concentric offers clustered hosting rather then the traditional shared hosting which means improved processing power, load handling and security.

Consoles galore
Between our family friends and neighbours we know 5 boys, ranging in ages from 5 to 14. Between them they have an incredible amount of game consoles; Nintendo DX, Playstation, Wii, Xbox, PSP and there’s probably even more that I can’t think of. The funny thing is they all practically beat each other up for a turn on my PC and to use the internet (none of them have a PC) and they all say -when I suggest it’s time to let ME have a turn on the PC now and they should go and use their game at home- that their consoles are boring and the PC+internet is so much more fun. I wouldn’t know since the PC is all I use but I wonder if anyone else (or their kids) feel this way? Or is it just a matter of what you don’t have being more exciting?
