Become a ClickSmart certified expert

Whether your business is gardening, plumbing, roofing or if you are any other type of contractor, a little promotion on the internet can go a long way. Becoming a ClickSmart certified expert is one such way and becoming listed in their directory can get your name out there and bring more business your way.

You will need to be in good standing with the BBB and be properly registered to apply to be listed in the directory. Once your business is listed, anyone searching through a category, for example austin landscaping will be able to find your listing and contact you. Searches are for the US only and are city specific in each state.

Back to work on other sites too

I’ve finished writing a bit of content for my new site so today it’s back to work on my other sites too. I need to make more money from my main site since at the moment Adsense is all I have going there pretty much and some low converting affiliate programs. I really need to step up my game as I have some slightly more difficult times coming up where I may not have as much time to work.

Write rhymes with writerhymes.com

Ever been stuck for finding what rhymes with another word? Then head over to writerhymes.com where all you have to do is hold down the “alt” key and click on a word of your choice to find what rhymes with it. Great for Valentine’s poems, birthday cards, scrapbooks etc.

Decorating inspiration

Birds

Birds

How cute is this? I think this would be especially great for places with a high ceiling. It would add a bit of natural colour and interest and it looks fairly easy to put together. Reminds me of some christmas decoration I made a couple of years ago made of branches hanging down like in the picture but spray painted silver and with xmas decorations on them instead of birds.
Found at Design*Sponge which is a blog I like quiet a bit.

Vacations

It is winter here and although it’s not very harsh just the occasional frost in the mornings, it is a time many people start dreaming about getting away to a slightly warmer destination for a little while.

If you are thinking about going away on a vacation however, it is important to do your research first. For example if you are off to vacation in the one of many great Destin Florida condos or Siesta Key beach vacation rentals, you might want to consider going in the off season which is March, April or September and October. You will enjoy not only cheaper accommodation but also other savings such as reduced price entry into theme parks, not to mention the cost of air fairs which can really eat into the holiday budget.

On the other hand if you are looking to do some skiing while staying at some Breckenridge condos frugality is probably not the foremost thought on your mind. While there is still plenty to do in the off season many people would rather go there for the skiing which can get fairly pricey, especially during prime ski season. In that case if you are interested in saving money there are still plenty of things you can do. Book as many things as you can online such as ski passes and do it well in advance as well. Traveling in groups whenever possible can also cut the costs of holidaying by a fair bit.

I hope these tips can help on your next vacation.

I wish I was more productive!

I know I’m not alone in wishing there were more hours in the day but lately I’ve been feeling like as if I’m running on the spot so to speak. I sit at the computer working all day, or at least it feels like that, but not much actually gets done. I think I must spend way too much time researching posts and the like because I’m just not getting enough done, in particular at my other blog. I have been meaning to write a post about colours and it has been in the works for about a week with hardly any progress. I keep meaning to go out for a run with my dog also and that’s not happening either. Don’t even mention mopping the floor because you guessed it, that’s also not getting done. I’ve tried time management software like rescue time which is helpful in showing you what exactly takes up so much of your time at the computer but unfortunately even those stats are not helping me!

Moving is a headache

Between the years 2000 and 2005 alone I moved houses five times. I have moved plenty of other times also aside from those years (including moving to a different country), so I know what I am saying when I say moving is a headache and a half. Not only is there packing, wrapping, sorting and cleaning to be done but there is also the fun of trying to find a good moving truck company.

I went through a few different moving truck companies too and while some were way too expensive and others had terrible service (eg. so rude as to even tell me my new place sucked!) I eventually did find one that was affordable and the people were very nice. It did take a few tries though before I got it right and now I recommend them to everyone in my area.

It doesn’t have to take as much trial and error however these days thanks to the internet, where good recommendation are easy to come by and it is also easy to search for user experiences about any particular company. If you live in the US movingcompaniesonline.com has recommendations nation wide which can make the moving experience much faster, cheaper and less of a headache in general.

Scan your DNA for diseases

I just came across these two sites: Decodeme.com and 23andme.com where you can get your DNA scanned to see if you have any possible genetic health conditions (based on current knowledge). There’s also the very tantalizing statement “decipher the history written in your genes” which honestly makes me want to run over there and fork out the $1000 to get it done. If I ever do have the money to spare (which may be never!) I will really consider this service.

Remote computer access

Since getting my new eee pc so I can be a bit more mobile, there are often times where I need to transfer work files across to the laptop from the main computer. Which is all well and good when both the computers are in the same room but when they are not and I need a file from the computer, I need to gain some sort of remote access to the machine in order to transfer files across. This is what remotePC does offering a full screen experience to the remote computer just like as if you were working on it. For a very low price of less then $5 per month it is a service worth getting.
